Are Japanese cosmetics cheaper in Japan?

Hi, im going to Japan for a holiday and i would like to buy cosmetics from Shiseldo and Kanebo. I wonder if these japanese cosmetics will be cheaper over in Japan or i should just buy it in my country?

And do those makeup counter girls speak english if i like to try out the cosmetics?

Or it will be easier for me to bring the current product i am using and show it to them than to try communicate with them in englishAre Japanese cosmetics cheaper in Japan?
where are you traveling from? exchange rate comes into play so it may end up costing you more. On the other hand, why not buy the cosmetics at duty-free shop? If they do carry it, that is the best option.Are Japanese cosmetics cheaper in Japan?
Shiseido and Kanebo have lots of different lineup of cosmetics in japan that are not found outside the country. Some with very attractive packaging. But they are almost the same priced as in singapore. but of course, a little cheaper. but not by much. but if u are looking forward to get cosmetics that aren't found here, it's heaven there.

the makeup counter girls speak very minimal english. try to use monosyllabic words like ';try, ok?'; instead of ';can i try this on?';

but they are very good in service and very friendly, they'll be more than happy to serve you. whether u buy, or decide not to. just return them a smile and ';sorry, thank you.'; if u decide not to purchase after all the service.

they catch it better in short phrases.

you can also bring the current product that you are using now to show them.

note that the lineups that they sell in the departmental stores are different from the lineups they sell in the local drug stores. they really have lots of different lineups!

enjoy!
Nothing is cheaper when it comes to Shiseido and Kanebo. The only cheap price of make up can be purchased at Yen shop.

I don't think these make up representatives would speak English but there must be somebody that could understand English and you can try their make up anytime as long as you can trust the product they would apply on your face. Yes, try to bring your current product and you can show to them too. Depends on your skin type, might be allergic to other products that you will purchase and no return policy.
most of them dont speak english but these people are extremely polite and they will help you out. The prices are more or less the same but good thing about Japan is that, they always have clearance sale and the offers are always amazingly cheaper. U will have fun in Japan, believe me.
Sorry don't really know // but I think you should know .. as for my experience .. most Japanese specially in Tokyo Do understand English ,, But in writing .. so just keep a notepad and a pen handy and write down what you need to say =) weird aint it !
Basically, yes. Domestic cosmetics will be cheaper. but ';Cheap'; is such a relative term, because they are expensive either way you look at it. But if you are just looking at price, yes, they are cheaper in Japan.

All Japanese department stores will have English speaking staff that can help you at the cosmetic counters.
